The share of biogas in the Danish gas grid has for the first time reached 50%

Denmark has one of the greenest gas grids in the world, but it was not until June 2021 that the biogas share managed to reach 50% for the first time.

The share of biogas has increased steadily in recent years and met approx. 18% of the total gas demand in 2020 in Denmark. The fact that we now in 2021, have achieved this milestone in relation to the green gas, is a promising and very crucial development to make the Danish energy more climate friendly.

This helps to support the Danish ambitions to increase the amount of biomethane from the current approx. 20% to 70% by 2030.
